The Grayston Unity presents Midding, lofi shoegaze rock from Cardiff.
Through the release of two EPs on Tough Love Records, Midding have established a sound that feels both familiar and entirely their own. Expect a blend of lo-fi tape saturation, fuzz-soaked guitars and melodic vocals; their songs balance noise and atmosphere with catchy pop sensibilities in equal measure.
Taking cues from the golden era of Creation Records, but without relying on the comfort of nostalgia, Midding’s music then is hazy, hook-laden, shimmery and distorted, all together at once.
Eliza Beth is singer-songwriter who plays music influenced by bands such as Neutral Milk Hotel, The Postal Service, Sparklehorse and Mike Krol. Combining samples, 8-bit sounds and heavy distortion from D.I.Y gear to a distinct sound. To play these songs they use pedalboard and DIY amp combo and a looper that plays backing tracks.
